TISS Mumbai Makes Changes in Admission Process 2025; To Accept CAT 2024 for coveted M.A. (HRM & LR); M.A. (ODCL) & Hospital Administration Programs; Drops CUET PG

The high RoI Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, the oldest institute for professional social work education offers low fee M.A. programs with high placements. Its M.A. HRM & LR program is one of the most sought after management programs and is at par with IIMs, XLRI and other top B-schools. While the total program fee is only Rs.185,000, average and highest package in TISS Placements are as high as Rs.27.22 LPA and Rs.49 LPA respectively. TISS Notifies to Accept CAT 2024

 In its recent Notification released in August 2024, Tata Institute of Social Sciences has clarified that it will accept only CAT 2024 score for admission to its following three Post Graduate Programs:

• Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations (M.A. HRM & LR)
• Master of Arts in Organization Development, Change and Leadership (MAODCL)
• Master of Hospital Administration

TISS has advised the candidates to follow the CAT 2024 exam website regarding the CAT exam details.

TISS to Get Cream of Talent Again
With the announcement to accept CAT exam score again for admission 2025, TISS is likely to get the best talent from among the CAT test takers who aspire for TISS admission. The top M.A. programs of Tata Institute of Social Sciences shortlist thousands of candidates for very limited seats. Last year TISS accepted CUET PG which is an unpredictable exam. The top talent finalizes admission with best available options by the time the CUET PG result is declared and TISS could complete its shortlisting and admission process. However, with CAT back as mandatory entrance exam for TISS admission, the best talent through CAT would come back to this prestigious institute.

TISS Made Many changes in Admission 2024
TISS offers number of Post graduate programs and the admission used to be through the TISSNET exam till 2023. However, from the academic session 2024, Tata Institute of Social Sciences had earlier cancelled its own TISSNET entrance exam and announced to accept CAT 2023 score for admission 2024. But, suddenly, TISS had also dropped CAT 2023 score for admission 2024 to its most sought after PG programmes – M.A. (HRM & LR) and M.A. (ODCL). In its Notification dated November 17, 2023, TISS had further announced that it would accept only CUET PG 2024 score for admission 2024 for all the M.A. Programs.

This announcement came just a few days before the CAT 2023 exam which was conducted on November 26. It reflected the institute’s lack of concern for the future of students who were subjected to not only to wait for another six months to appear in an unpredictable CUET PG 2024 exam but also had to face the uncertainty on admission as thousands of them had to compete for 68 seats, that too when the academic session in most of the institutes had already commenced.

How to Apply for CAT & TISS: Two Steps

• Candidates have to register and apply for CAT 2024 and appear in the exam on November 24, 2024
• TISS aspirants need to separately apply for admission to Tata Institute of Social Sciences when it opens its application process online.
• Please note that unlike the IIMs which have inbuilt application form in CAT 2024 application form, TISS application has to be submitted separately.
