Latest Updates: CMAT 2021 for admission to MBA/PGDM 2021-23 in AICTE approved management institutes will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in January, 2021. The likely CMAT 2021 exam date is January 24, 2021. The high score in CMAT 2021 will offer MBA admission opportunity in 1000 AICTE approved MBA/PGDM colleges. 


While the registration and application process for largest MBA entrance exam CAT 2020 has closed in September, other top MBA entrance exams leading to admission 2021 are open till November/December 2020. XAT 2021 for admission to XLRI, XIMB, IMT and 150 other top B-schools is open till Nov 30, 2020; NMAT by GMAC for admission in NMIMS and 30+ B-schools is open till November 30; SNAP 2020 for admission 2021 in 16 Symbiosis institutes is open till November 28, 2020; IBSAT 2020 for admission 2021 in ICFAI Hyderabad and 8 other ICFAI B-schools is open till December 16, 2020.


CMAT 2021 registration process is likely to start in November 2020 with the release of exam notification in last week of October 2020 by NTA. CMAT 2021 is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session. CMAT Test Paper evaluates a candidate’s ability in Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness areas. CMAT 2021 score will be accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya Mumbai, Welingkar Mumbai, PUMBA among others.   


What is CMAT?
Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a government organized computer based national level MBA entrance examination for entry into 1000 AICTE approved management programmes (MBA/PGDM) all over India. Till 2018, CMAT was conducted by AICTE, now the Test is conducted by the National Testing Authority (NTA) constituted by Government of India. More than 70,000 candidates apply for CMAT every year. Last year 63,297 candidates appeared in CMAT exam and all had qualified. CMAT offers unique opportunity to all the test takers as none of them is disqualified in its result.

CMAT 2021 test paper has a time duration of 3 hours with 100 objective type questions in MCQs form.

  • Question difficulty level is easy to moderate
  • Exam is divided in 4 sections with 25 questions in each section. The sections are Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness

MBA Colleges in Maharashtra to Accept CMAT Exam Score
The Higher and Technical Education Department, Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra has clarified while determining the entrance exam eligibility of All India category candidates for MBA/MMS admission process in Government, University affiliated, private aided and unaided Maharashtra MBA colleges, that All India Candidature Candidate, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidate will be considered for MBA/MMS admission on the basis of obtaining non zero positive score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority; CAT -conducted by Indian Institute of Management; CMAT; GMAT among others.


National Testing Agency Created to Conduct CMAT
NTA, a newly created test conducting body, is conducting the entire CMAT 2021 exam alongwith other exams which were conducted by other agencies earlier. NTA will use highly secured IT software and encryption to ensure delivery of tests just in time. This will ensure no leakages and other malpractices. National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established by Government of India as a testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions. NTA has replaced AICTE as exam conducting authority. AICTE conducted CMAT exam till 2018. CMAT is now known as NTA CMAT instead of AICTE-CMAT. From 2019 onwards, National Testing Agency has been assigned to conduct the CMAT exam.


The revised CMAT exam is similar to past exam pattern. It is a three hour computer based online test, conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across four sections like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.


Score Accepted by AICTE Approved MBA/PGDM Colleges
All the top colleges accepting CMAT 2021 exam score are the ones offering AICTE approved MBA/PGDM programmes. They include top MBA colleges like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, GIM, Great Lakes among others. According to AICTE, ‘All AICTE approved Institutes / Departments / Constituent Colleges / Affiliated Colleges of Universities are expected to accept CMAT scores. The specific notifications issued by Universities and State Governments are available at CMAT website.’


CMAT is one of the largest National Level MBA/PGDM entrance examination and is conducted once a year in the month of January, as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.


Universities in 13 states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka among others accept CMAT exam scores alongwith CAT for admission to their MBA programmes. The governments have officially notified CMAT as their official test. In addition, many B-schools offering AICTE approved PGDM programs will be using the CMAT 2021 scores. More than 1000 B schools running AICTE approved management programmes in India accept the CMAT score. It is the 2nd largest MBA/PGDM entrance test after CAT in the country. Last year 74486

The exam will be conducted in 109 test cities. With effect from 2016, CMAT has become a yearly exam as against twice a year exam.  Earlier till 2015, there used to be 2 CMAT exams in one year.   • You should visit the Examination Centre, a day before the examination and familiarize yourself with the location and means of reaching the venue of the Test on time
  • Reach the venue of the Test at the Reporting Time mentioned in the Admit Card. If you report beyond the Gate Closing time of Centre, you will not be allowed to enter in the Test venue. 

Items You Should Carry at Exam Centre
Carry with you only following items:

  • Admit Card on a clear colour printout on A4 size paper
  • One Passport size photograph (same as uploaded with the Online Application Form) to be pasted on the Attendance Sheet at the Centre
  • A valid Photo ID Proof in ORIGINAL (PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/E- Aadhaar/Ration Card/ Bank Passbook with Photograph). 
  • Please note that ID Cards issued by Schools/ Colleges/ Universities/ Coaching Centres, AADHAR enrollment receipt without AADHAR NUMBER and PHOTOCOPIES OR Images Stored in mobile phones etc will NOT be accepted
  • No Candidate would be allowed to enter the Examination Centre, without identity verification
  • PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category.

Candidates are NOT allowed to carry Instrument/ Geometry/ Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Ear Phone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder, to wear/carry any type of watch including Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the Examination Hall/Room 


There may not be any provision for safe keeping of valuables at the Centre. 


Inside the Examination Hall

  • Pen/ Pencil and blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided in the examination Hall/Room. 
  • Write Your name and Roll Number at the top of the sheet and must return the sheets and Admit Card to the Invigilator, before leaving the examination Hall/Room.
  • Enter required details in the Attendance Sheet in legible handwriting, put your signature, Left Hand Thumb Impression and paste the Photograph at the appropriate place. Ensure that Your Left Hand Thumb Impression is clear and not smudged. 
  • No Candidate should adopt any unfair means or indulge in any unfair examination practices. The candidature of candidates in case of impersonation will be automatically cancelled without any notice

Latest Update: NTA releases CMAT Cut Offs & Scores in February first week on NTA CMAT website after declaration of CMAT exam result. Last year CMAT cut off for MBA admission 2020 at 100 percentile was 347 marks and for 99 to 99.99 percentile the cut off has remained in the range of 282 – 342 marks. CMAT Score Vs Percentile

CMAT 2020 exam result was declared on February 4, 2020 late night. National Testing Agency has announced the All India Merit list based on the Total Marks obtained by the candidates in Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2020 conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) on 28th January 2020 in a single slot on January 28, 2020 from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM.

NTA will release CMAT 2020 answer key on January 30, 2021.  With CMAT 2020 exam over on January 24, 2021, National Testing Agency will display the CMAT answer keys and CMAT response sheet with CMAT objection form to challenge the CMAT 2021 answer key on the NTA CMAT exam official website.

The CMAT answer keys with objection form to challenge the responses in the answer options are released by National Testing Agency (NTA) which now conducts CMAT exam instead of AICTE.
