Management Development Institute (MDI) Murshidabad - Director & Faculty

Prof. (Dr.) Jayanthi Ranjan is the MDI Murshidabad director and a member of its Board of Governors. In her message in the institute's brochure, she highlights the support of the MDI Society, whose members include senior leaders of public sector banks and financial institutions. She notes that MDI Murshidabad launched the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in September 2025, along with an AICTE-approved PGDM (Online).

The Director's message also notes the institute's executive education work, with management development programmes for LIC, Eastern Coalfields, MSTC, GRSE, RINL, Canara Bank, Indian Oil and the West Bengal Power Development Corporation. She describes MDI Murshidabad as a catalyst for the educational, economic and social growth of the Murshidabad region. Details of the Director's academic background will be published soon.

The MDI Murshidabad Board of Governors brings together banking leaders, academics, an AICTE nominee, a faculty representative and two alumni representatives.

Other Board members are Shri K. Satyanarayana Raju, Shri Chandradeep Kumar Jha, Dr. Prabal Kumar Sen, Shri Suresh N. Patel, Dr. Kishore Sansi, Prof. M. S. Sriram, Shri Sandeep Batra and Shri Hardeep Singh Ahluwalia. The MDI Society's general body includes senior leaders of IFCI, LIC of India, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Export-Import Bank of India, Union Bank of India and Canara Bank.

MDI Murshidabad academic areas number nine, and together they cover every core and elective course of the PGDM. According to the institute, its faculty combine scholarship, experience and new teaching methods, and publish research in management journals.

MDI Murshidabad research is organised around three centres of excellence and an annual calendar of international conferences.

• MDI Murshidabad centres of excellence (set up in 2018): Centre for Agri Business & Food Processing, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Start-ups, and Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.

• Conferences in 2026: the 6th International Conference on Changing Business Paradigm (ICCBP), held from 9 to 11 January 2026, and the International Conference on Business, IT and Enterprise Architecture (ICBIT 2026), held online on 27 and 28 February 2026.

• Doctoral research: the FPM, launched in September 2025, adds a research track to the institute.
