Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode has been awarded the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) Accreditation by EFMD. IIM Kozhikode is the 5th IIM and the 6th B-school to have joined the elite league of EQUIS Accredited B-schools in India. IIM Kozhikode was also accredited by the UK based Association of MBAs (AMBA) in 2010.
Speaking on this achievement, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode, said “Indian B-Schools are not just knocking at the doors of gaining global recognition, but are bringing down the wall of divide to offer world-class, affordable education to deserving students.”
EQUIS is awarded by EFMD, a globally recognised international organisation for management development and is based in Brussels, Belgium. EQUIS Accreditation has so far been conferred on 197 management institutions across the world including London Business School andINSEAD.
EQUIS Accredited B-Schools in India
In Asia, there are only 42B-schools that have received the EQUIS accreditation.Six EQUIS Accredited B-Schools in India are:
- IIM Ahmedabad
- IIM Bangalore
- IIM Calcutta
- IIM Indore
- ISB Hyderabad
- IIM Kozhikode
In addition to EQUIS Accreditation, EFMD also offers EPAS Accreditation. SDMIMD Mysore was the first institute in India to be accredited with EPAS in 2017 by EFMD. Subsequently, EFMD has changed the system of accreditation, by continuing to have school/university- wide accreditation, which is EQUIS, and specific program accreditation which is now called EFMD Accredited. Hence, SDMIMD has been awarded EFMD Accreditation in the renewal process in 2020 and continues to be the only B-school in the country to have this prestigious accreditation.
EQUIS Accreditation reinforces recent achievements
Prior to receiving the EQUIS Accreditation, IIM Kozhikode had made key achievements and improved its national and international ranking position. This year IIM Kozhikode has not only improved its ranking position but has also made debut in world rankings:
- NIRF Ranking 2021:IIM Kozhikode hasjumped two places in NIRF 2021 Rankings: Management released by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and has attained Rank #4 from Rank#6 in last year ranking.
- Strong Debut in QS Global Rankings:The Post Graduate and Executive Post Graduate Programmes of IIM Kozhikode have made their global debut in the QS Global Rankings. The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) is ranked 16+ in Asia-Pacific in the QS Global Executive MBA Rankings 2021 and as per the QS Masters in Management Rankings 2022, the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) is among the top ten programmes in Asia
- Placed in 4 Palmes of Excellence Category: IIMK was placed in the four Palmes of Excellence Category in the Eduniversal Global Rankings 2020.
- First IIM to Feature in Atal Ranking: IIM Kozhikode is the first IIM to be featured in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA).
Started in 1997 with its Postgraduate Program (PGP), the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) is on a high growth trajectory, offering wide range of academic programs in the field of management education. These include Fellow Programme in Management, Executive PG Programmes, Management Development Programmes and Faculty Development Programs.
IIMK set up a Satellite campus at Infopark, Kochi, in 2013 dedicated to Executive Education.
