IIM Kozhikode Celebrates Annual Convocation 2022: 962 Students Conferred with Degrees and Titles at the 24th Convocation in the Silver Jubilee Year

IIM Kozhikode celebrated its 24^th Convocation on April 9, 2022 for the 962 graduating students from the different management programmes. Eleven Gold Medals were awarded to the students from different programmes out of these six Gold Medals were awarded to four women students. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, Shri Arif Mohammed Khan who delivered the convocation address by drawing inspirational lessons from Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Albert Einstein and the likes who devoted their entire life in the pursuit of knowledge. The students graduated in the presence of Shri A Vellayan, Chairperson IIMK Board of Governors (BoG), Prof.Debashis Chatterjee, Director, Members of the Board of Governors, Members of the faculty and staff, graduating students, renowned public figures from the city of Kozhikode and members from the Media.

In its Silver Jubilee year, IIM Kozhikode has created a vision document to remain relevant after 25 years. Marking the culmination of a year-long Silver Jubilee Celebration, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode  said, “We created a vision document for ourselves so that we are relevant as a school 25 years from now – a vision that has influenced the country to rethink India @2047 this year.” He thanked the Central and State Governments for their continued support and lauded the faculty as the backbone of the Institute who set great examples in discipline, diligence and innovation.

Coping with hybrid classes during the pandemic and academic rigour, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), held its Annual Convocation on campus after a two-year long Covid 19 pandemic. The Convocation witnessed 468 participants from the class of 2022 being awarded the MBA for its flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management.  The  graduating students also included 11 students from IIM Kozhikode’s Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD), 60 students from the one-year full time Post Graduate Programme in Business Leadership (PGP-BL), and 40 students each from the batch of Post Graduate Programme in Finance (PGP-Finance) and Post Graduate Programme in Liberal Studies and Management. In addition, 343 students from the Executive Post Graduate Programme - Interactive Learning Mode. The toppers from each programme were also awarded gold medals in recognition of their accomplishments.

11 Gold Medals Awarded
The toppers from each programme were awarded gold medals in recognition of their accomplishments.  A total of eight students, including four women students, across different programmes have been awarded eleven gold medals this year.

Delivering the Convocation Address, Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, Shri Arif Mohammed Khan emphasized on the role the higher education, institutions have to play in preparing for knowledge dissemination that an uncertain future may require and said, , “Institutions are market place of ideas that train young minds through robust experience and prepare students for the journey ahead in pursuit of excellence, guided by reason and informed choice.” He congratulated IIMK for completing a landmark 25 year journey and its  efforts in creating a world class Institution that is Globalizing Indian Thought.

Shri A Vellayan, Chairperson IIMK Board of Governors, advocated the philosophy of learning through unlearning and relearning. He also spoke about the significant changes and developments that have been taking place at IIMK in the past few years. The Chairperson highlighted the quantitative and qualitative interventions at the campus that are driving the change and taking the Institute to newer heights.

Prof Debashis Chatterjee, director said that IIMK will continue to be a pioneer in gender diversity with significant female representation while listing out the achievements and the laurels gained by the Institute faculty and students which further enhanced IIMK’s growing reputation.

IIMK Celebrates Convocation Eve
On the eve of the 24^th Convocation there was a star studded live performance by playback singer KK at the IIM Kozhikode Campus. IIM Kozhikode had lit up the night sky with festive lighting arrangements for the Silver Jubilee Celebrations and the 24^th Annual Convocation. Starting from the Wayanad Road Gate to the famous Arjuna Path the passageway to the Main Administrative Complex was a 2 kilometre long visual spectacle enthralling the audience in all its chromatic glory on the special occasion.

Started in 1997 with its Postgraduate Program (PGP), the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) is on a high growth trajectory today, offering wide range of academic programs in the field of management education.
