Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Hon’ble Minister of Revenue, Education (Primary, Secondary and Adult), Higher and Technical Education and Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Gujarat; Shri Mitesh Rameshbhai Patel, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha; Shri Lal Sinh Vadodia, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Shri Dilip Rath, Chairman, IRMA; Shri Kantibhai Chavda, President, Anand Nagar Palika and Prof Hitesh V. Bhatt, Director, IRMA.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, the Hon’ble Vice President of India appreciated IRMA for its quality of education, vision and adopting a multi-faceted and multi pronged approach to Rural Management education and research. Urging the students of IRMA to prepare, challenge themselves and strive to make India’s growth story more inclusive by focusing on Personal Social Responsibility (PSR), Shri Naidu said, “IRMA has been working to build an India the way Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel dreamed of.”

On the occasion, Vice President remembered the founder of IRMA, Dr Verghese Kurien and called him a great institution builder. He emphasised the need for places like Anand and stories like AMUL and IRMA in bringing people back to their roots. It was here at Anand where the white revolution was conceptualised. He remembered the efforts of Dr Kurien and his team in making India the world's largest milk producer.

Vice President also released IRMA’s commemorative book titled, ‘Empowering India through Professional Management’.

Prof Hitesh V Bhatt, Director, IRMA said "It is indeed a pleasure for us to witness the completion of 40 years of IRMA. Over the last four decades IRMA has striven to live up to the ideals of its Founding Father Dr Verghese Kurien and today more than 60% of the 3,000 odd IRMA alumni are working in organisations serving rural and allied sectors."

Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasma urged IRMA to also get engaged into Water Management in view of the water scarcity that looms large over the country. Shri Dilip Rath appreciated Irma for its efforts to live upto the ideals of its founding father Dr Kurien. Adding further he said that more than 60 percent of the 3000 IRMA alumni are working in organizations serving rural and allied sectors. IRMA is the institution that has built them to achieve this position and is synonymous with its alumni.

IRMA's Programme in Rural Management (PGDRM) prepares talented young managers to assume challenge-filled responsibilities in rural cooperatives and development organisations. Its two-year residential programme leading to a Post-Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM) has been recognised as equivalent to a Master's degree by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The participants of this programme are highly valued in local, national and international cooperatives, NGOs, development organisations, and funding agencies. Keeping a record of 100% placements, IRMA places all its students suitably in different organisations through the IRMA Campus Placement programme.
