Let us look at sector or domain wise trends.

Almost all the top tier strategy, operation and technology consulting companies recruited at ISB in 2021 and made a total of 388 offers cutting across strategy, technology, transactional and operational consulting space. This indicates high number of opportunities available for students who wish to make a beginning in consulting companies immediately post ISB.

Consulting recruiters at ISB 2021 include McKinsey & Company, Deloitte India, Deloitte USI, Accenture Solutions Ltd, Bain & Company India Ltd, Kearney, PwC, ZS Associates, KPMG, GEP Solutions, Alvarez and Marsal India Private Limited, L E K Consulting, Arthur D Little, Ernst & Young LLP, EVERSANA, Dalberg and Intueri Consulting LLP.

Banking & Finance
This year almost 9.5 per cent of the total offers have come from the BFSI segment. This includes non-BFSI firms hiring for finance roles from ISB. The roles that ISB graduates landed were as diverse as corporate finance, treasury, private banking, investment management, investment banking, and fintech, among others.

Top private and MNC banks such as ICICI, Axis, Yes Bank, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Barclays, Wells Fargo among others gave good number of offers at ISB. In the investment banking space, Capitel Partners and VC firm Matrix Partners continued its hiring from ISB.

Technology Sector
Almost a quarter of total offers came from IT/ITES/Technology and e-commerce space. Some prominent names that hired in this space are Microsoft, Flipkart, Uber, Cisco, Atlassian, RazorPay, Myntra, Ola Electric, Zynga, Electronic Arts, Nykaa, HiLabs, and BeatO and offered multiple roles — product, sales, project management, strategy and operations within the tech space.

According to ISB, 5 per cent offers came from pharma/healthcare space.

ISB Vs Top IIMs: A comparison of Placements 2021
ISB offers  one year MBA where the fee is Rs 36 Lakhs and average work experience is 4.5 Yrs. IIMA, IIMB, IIMC offer 2-year MBA/PGP where the average work experience ranges from 2-3 years, and 30-40% of batch enters without work experience. This should put ISB at an advantageous position when it comes to placements. So,how do salary outcome of ISB compare with Top IIMs. MBAUniverse.com compared ISB Placements with Highest Placement at other top B-schools.

As evident from table below, IIM Calcutta average salary of Rs 29 lakhs for 2021 placements is ahead of ISB’s. IIMA and IIMB are yet to declare their average salary data due to IPRS process. However, going by previous year’s trends, it is likely to be in the vicinity of Rs 28 lakhs. So, it is fair to say that MBA students at Top 3 IIMs earn the same salary as their older and more experienced peers from ISB do.

B-school Average Annual Salary (CTC) Percentage Change from last year
IIM Calcutta Rs 29.00 lakhs +3.5%
ISB Rs 28.29 lakhs +8.30%
IIM Ahmedabad Rs.26.12 lakhs NA
IIM Bangalore Rs.26.18 lakhs NA
FMS Delhi Rs 26.20 Lakhs +2.3%

Of course, ISB Placements beat all other IIMs, FMS Delhi and top private B-schools XLRI.
