MICA Ahmedabad admission 2020 application for PGDM and PGDM-C has closed now. After shortlisting the GE-PI round is going on. MICA admission is a three-step process involving appearance in MICAT for all the CAT/XAT/GMAT takers, shortlisting based on exam scores, and the Final selection. The batch commences in June 2020. MICA offers 2 years full time PGDM-Communication and PGDM programs.

MICA Ahmedabad, India’s premier management school for Strategic Marketing and Communications, has closed applications for admission to its 2020-22 batch of the flagship 2-year PGP Program (Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Communication/Post Graduate Diploma in Management). This year, MICA had simultaneously opened applications for its 1-year Post Graduate Certificate Program, Crafting Creative Communications (CCC), and the 4-year Fellow Programme in Management (FPM).

MBA Entrance Exam Scores Accepted by MICA
MICA Ahmedabad accepts CAT/ XAT and GMAT exam score for admission. All the candidates who apply for MICA PGDM-C or PGDM admission have to appear in MICAT exam, which is conducted by MICA at institute level.

MICAT is the mandatory exam to be cleared by the candidates who apply for admission at MICA on the basis of CAT/XAT and GMAT registrations. Besides, it is mandatory to appear in one of these three MBA entrance exams and also score well in MICAT to be shortlisted by MICA for final selection round.

MICA Offers 2 PGDM Programs Now
Apart from its flagship programme – Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Communication), MICA, with effect from 2019, has launched 2 years full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management which is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

MICA Ahmedabad: Programme Fee
The programme Fee for the PGDM-C for 2 years, including tuition fee, residential charges (Boarding and Lodging) at MICA Ahmedabad is Rs.20,00,000/-. The fee may be revised for PGDM 2020-22 batch.  MICA has clarified that the programme fee for PGDM and PGDM-C 2020-22 batch will be same.

MICA Ahmedabad Intake: 216 Students
The programme intake for PGDM-C and PGDM 2020-22 batch has been increased to 216. MICA is also expanding its intake with more students to be offered admission in PGDM 2020-22 batch.

MICA Placements
MICA Ahmedabad has a consistently high placement record. It concluded final placement 2019 achieving again 100 percent placement for its large batch of 180 students. MICA recorded steep rise in highest salary which has gone up at Rs.58.22 lakhs in 2019 from Rs.35.27 lakhs last year. Average salary in MICA Placement 2019 has gone up to Rs.12.80 lakhs.

Despite a rise in 2017-19 batch size to 180 students from 173 students last year the hike in average and highest salary reflects the consistent growing demand of MICA students by the industry.

Every 2 of the 5 students at MICA got PPOs in 2019 while the number of Recruiters increased to 78 in 2019 from 76 last year.

MICA Ahmedabad Admission Cut Off  
MICA Ahmedabad Cutoff  is based on overall percentile score of CAT 2019, XAT 2020 or GMAT exam score. Only the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the overall percentile ranks, and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of entrance exam will be considered for all the subsequent stages.

Same Admission Process for PGDM-C & PGDM
MICA admission is a three step process involving appearance in MICAT for all the CAT/XAT/GMAT takers, shortlisting based on exam scores, and the Final selection process. The admission process for both the programmes remain the same.

PGDM-C or PGDM?
While applying for MICA PGDM/PGDM-C admission, you have the choice to mark your preferred programme. MICA has clarified, “Students have the choice to opt for the PGDM-C and/or PGDM program. Candidates who choose to opt for both the programs will have to mark the program of their first preference as priority 1 and the second program of second preference as priority 2.”

How to Apply for Admission?
MICA Application had to be submitted online with the requisite application fee of Rs.1985/-. All candidates are assessed on MICAT conducted by MICA. A 50% weightage is awarded to MICAT score in shortlisting criteria for admission to MICA

MICA Admission 2020: Eligibility Criteria

  1. A Candidate was eligible to apply for admission for PGDM-C and PGDM programmes at MICA if he/she has a Bachelor's degree (in keeping with the 10 + 2 + 3 system) or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  2. Candidates appearing for final examinations towards a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply
  3. One of the most important points in MICA Ahmedabad Admission Eligibility criteria is that apart from a recognized graduate degree, the candidate should appear in CAT 2019 or XAT 2020 exam
  4. It is mandatory for all the applicants who adhere to the MICA eligibility criteria to register and appear in MICAT without which their candidature will be cancelled.

MICA Ahmedabad Admission Criteria
MICA Admission Criteria is a three step process involving the mandatory appearance in MICAT for all the CAT/XAT/GMAT takers, shortlisting criteria based on CAT/XAT/GMAT and MICAT score and the Final admission selection Criteria with GE-PI-WAT

MICAT: Mandatory for CAT/XAT/GMAT Takers

  • Before the shortlisting for final admission round is done by MICA, each candidate must have appeared in one of the entrance exams CAT 2019/XAT 2020/GMAT (2018 onwards)
  • MICAT is a computer based test consisting of three parts, namely the psychometric section, the descriptive section and an aptitude section which includes objective-type questions on Verbal ability, Quantitative ability and  Data interpretation, General Awareness and Divergent and Convergent thinking. The details of the exam and important dates have been uploaded on the website.
  • All the candidates must appear in MICAT. The composition of 3 sections is - Section A: Psychometric Test; Section B: Verbal ability, Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation, General awareness; Divergent and Convergent Thinking. Section C is the Descriptive Test.

MICA Ahmedabad Shortlisting Criteria
The second part of MICA Ahmedabad Admission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. MICA will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT/XAT/GMAT exam score and MICAT score as under:

  • MICA awards 50% weight to MICAT score and 50% weight to CAT/XAT/GMAT score in shortlisting for final selection round. It is calculated on the composite score formula
  • The 1st stage of shortlisting in MICA Ahmedabad first considers score in Section A of MICAT Psychometric test which  is a qualifier
  • Those who qualify on the Psychometric, their relative performance on CAT/XAT/GMAT are considered for shortlisting.
  •  Candidates clearing a minimum cut-off in CAT /XAT total percentile/GMAT score are considered.
  • Those who qualify based on the CAT/XAT/GMAT performance, their Section B of MICAT will be assessed
  • Those who qualify on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off in Normalized Scores of Section B of MICAT shall have their Section C of MICAT Assessed. Each section will have its own cut-off.
  • Those who qualify on the basis of a, b, c and d (on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off in Normalized Scores of Section C of MICAT) shall be considered for short listing for GE and PI.
  • Short listed candidates will be called for GE and PI at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai.
  • Candidates who demonstrate aptitude for expressing, assessing, and /or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results tend to stand a better chance of being shortlisted in the MICA Admission process.
  1. Final Admission Selection Criteria
  • All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection round for admission to MICA Ahmedabad
  • MICA Ahmedabad selection criteria after final admission round award 30% weight to Personal Interview(PI); 20% weight to Group Exercise (GE), 30% weight to MICAT exam score, 20% to CAT/XAT/GMAT score.
  • The final merit list for admission 2020 at MICA is likely to be generated as per the following weightage:

Step by Step MICA Ahmedabad Admission Process
Following steps are included in the MICA Ahmedabad Admission process:

Step 1: Register and Appear in CAT/XAT/GMAT

  • Applicant has to register for and appear in one of the three exams viz. CAT 2019, XAT 2020 or GMAT (Taken 2018 onwards).
  • Apply online for admission to MICA and update your score options in the online application form which you would like to submit (CAT/XAT/GMAT).
  • After receiving your CAT score, XAT Registration No. or GMAT score, update the details on MICA website on or before 16th January 2020.
  • In case of XAT exam, the applicant needs to mention XAT Registration number only and MICA will collect the score from XLRI.

Step 2: Apply & Appear in MICAT

  • All candidates will be assessed on MICAT conducted by MICA
  • 50% weightage is awarded to MICAT score in shortlisting criteria for admission to MICA

Step 3: Shortlist

  • All the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT & MICAT
  • The shortlisted candidates shall appear for both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI)

Step 4: Final Selection

  • All the candidates who appear in GE & PI in final selection round at MICA and are considered for the final merit list must be recommended by majority of the panelists of PI Round
  • Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April/First week of May 2020 on the basis of Final Merit Score

MICA has begun convening the selection process twice in one academic year. By having the selection process twice - in December-January and Feb-March - MICA intends to provide more opportunities to MICA aspirants.

MICAT 2020 will be a multidimensional computer based examination, which will assess candidates in areas such as Divergent Thinking Abilities, Written Communication Abilities, General Awareness about contemporary social and business issues, including areas relevant to media, marketing, advertising & current affairs and Analytical & Verbal Abilities.

MICAT-II Exam Centers
MICAT-II will be conducted on January 25, 2020, at Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Ajmer, Aligarh, Allahabad, Bareilly, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Dhanbad, Faridabad, Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Gwalior, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Meerut, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Muzaffarnagar, Nagpur, Noida, Panjim, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Rajkot, Ranchi, Surat, Trivandrum, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.

MICA offers the same support to PGDM students as to PGDM-C students. Identical academic and non-academic support services (including placements) will be made available to the students of both PGDM and PGDM-C programs.
