MICA Ahmedabad has opened the admission 2021 application for PGDM and PGDM-C programmes. The last date to apply for the first phase of MICA Admission 2021 is November 26, 2020 till 11.50 PM. Applicants will have to appear in MICAT-I on December 5, 2020 at one of the centres opted by them. MICAT is the mandatory exam to be cleared by the candidates who apply for admission at MICA on the basis of CAT 2020/ XAT 2021 and GMAT exams. Besides, it is mandatory to appear in one of these three MBA entrance exams and also score well in MICAT to get shortlisted by MICA for final selection round.

MICA has simultaneously opened applications for its 1-year Post Graduate Certificate Program, Crafting Creative Communications (CCC), and the 4-year Fellow Programme in Management (FPM).

Two MICAT Exams: Opportunity to Improve Score
MICA Ahmedabad Admission 2021 process is through the institute level exam-MICAT-I and MICAT-2. Applicants who wish to participate in the admission process for PGDM and PGDM-C  have to first appear and qualify in CAT/XAT/GMAT and then appear for an entrance exam conducted by the institute, known as MICAT.  MICAT is conducted twice a year and better of the two scores is considered for shortlisting as a student may choose to write both MICAT I and II.

Acceptable Exam Scores
MICA Ahmedabad will accept CAT 2020/ XAT 2021 and GMAT (2019 onwards) exam score for admission. All the candidates who apply till November 26, 2020 for MICA PGDM-C or PGDM admission have to appear in MICAT-I exam also, which will be conducted by MICA at institute level on December 5, 2020. Those who apply after November 25, will have to appear in MICAT-2 on January 30, 2021 at various centres in India.

Commenting on the increase in female representation, Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta, President & Director, MICA, said, “Women are naturally creative. Same Admission Process for PGDM-C & PGDM
MICA admission is a three step process involving appearance in MICAT for all the CAT/XAT/GMAT takers, shortlisting based on exam scores, and the Final selection process. The admission process 2021 for both the programmes remain the same. According to Dr. Mehta “Admissions at MICA are purely based on merit. Our entrance test MICAT not only tests for analytical skills but also for the creative skills of the students. We look for students whose left brain capabilities are as high as their right brain capabilities. It is because of this difference that MICAns stand out.”

PGDM-C or PGDM? Mark Your Choice
While applying for MICA PGDM/PGDM-C admission 2021, you have the choice to mark your preferred programme. MICA has clarified, “Students have the choice to opt for the PGDM-C and/or PGDM program.Candidates who choose to opt for both the programs will have to mark the program of their first preference as priority 1 and the second program of second preference as priority 2.”

How to Apply for Admission?
MICA Application has to be submitted online with the requisite application fee of rs.1985/-. All candidates will be assessed on MICAT conducted by MICA. A 50% weightage is awarded to MICAT score in shortlisting criteria for admission to MICA

Last date to apply for phase-1 of MICA admission 2021 is November 25, 2020. The online application for MICA admission is open till midnight on November 25.

MICA Admission 2021: Eligibility Criteria

  1. A Candidate is eligible to apply for admission for PGDM-C and PGDM programmes at MICA, if he/she has a Bachelor's degree (in keeping with the 10 + 2 + 3 system) or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  2. Candidates appearing for final examinations towards a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply
  3. One of the most important points in MICA Ahmedabad Admission Eligibility criteria is that apart from a recognized graduate degree, the candidate should appear at least in one of the three exams - CAT 2020 or XAT 2021 or GMAT (Taken from 2019 onwards)
  4. It is mandatory for all the applicants who adhere to the MICA eligibility criteria to register and appear in MICAT without which their candidature will be cancelled.

MICA Admission Criteria 2021 is a three step process involving the mandatory appearance in MICAT for all the CAT/XAT/GMAT takers, shortlisting criteria based on CAT/XAT/GMAT and MICAT score and the Final admission selection Criteria with GE-PI-WAT

MICAT: Mandatory for CAT/XAT/GMAT Takers

  • Before the shortlisting for final admission round is done by MICA, each candidate must have appeared in one of the entrance exams CAT 2020/XAT 2021/GMAT (2019 onwards)
  • MICAT is a computer based test consisting of three parts, namely the psychometric section, the descriptive section and an aptitude section which includes objective-type questions on Verbal ability, Quantitative ability and  Data interpretation, General Awareness and Divergent and Convergent thinking. The details of the exam and important dates have been uploaded on the website.
  • All the candidates must appear in MICAT. The composition of 3 sections is - Section A: Psychometric Test; Section B: Descriptive Test; Section C: Verbal ability, Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation, General awareness; Divergent and Convergent Thinking

MICA Ahmedabad Shortlisting Criteria
The second part of MICA Ahmedabad Admission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. MICA will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT/XAT/GMAT exam score and MICAT score as under:

  • MICA awards 50% weight to MICAT score and 50% weight to CAT/XAT/GMAT score in shortlisting for final selection round. It is calculated on the composite score formula
  • The 1st stage of shortlisting in MICA Ahmedabad first considers score in Section A of MICAT Psychometric test which  is a qualifier
  • Those who qualify on the Psychometric, their relative performance on CAT/XAT/GMAT are considered for shortlisting.
  •  Candidates clearing a minimum cut-off in CAT /XAT total percentile/GMAT score are considered.
  • Those who qualify based on the CAT/XAT/GMAT performance, their Section B of MICAT will be assessed
  • Those who qualify on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off in Normalized Scores of Section B of MICAT shall have their Section C of MICAT Assessed. Each section will have its own cut-off.
  • Those who qualify on the basis of a, b, c and d (on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off in Normalized Scores of Section C of MICAT) shall be considered for short listing for GE and PI.
  • Short listed candidates will be called for GE and PI at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai.
  • Candidates who demonstrate aptitude for expressing, assessing, and /or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results tend to stand a better chance of being shortlisted in the MICA Admission process.

MICA Ahmedabad Admission Cut Off  
MICA Ahmedabad Cut off  2021 is based on overall percentile score of CAT 2020, XAT 2021 or GMAT exam score. Step by Step MICA Ahmedabad Admission Process
Following steps are included in the MICA Ahmedabad Admission process:

Step 1: Register and Appear in CAT/XAT/GMAT

  • Applicant has to register for and appear in one of the three exams viz. CAT 2020, XAT 2021 or GMAT (Taken 2019 onwards).
  • Apply online for admission to MICA and update your score options in the online application form which you would like to submit (CAT/XAT/GMAT).
  • After receiving your CAT score, XAT Registration No. or GMAT score, update the details on MICA website on or before 20th January 2021.
  • In case of XAT exam, the applicant needs to mention XAT Registration number only and MICA will collect the score from XLRI.

Step 2:Apply & Appear in MICAT

  • All candidates will be assessed on MICAT conducted by MICA
  • 50% weightage is awarded to MICAT score in shortlisting criteria for admission to MICA

Step 3: Shortlist

  • All the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT & MICAT
  • The shortlisted candidates shall appear for both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI)

Step 4: Final Selection

  • All the candidates who appear in GE & PI in final selection round at MICA and are considered for the final merit list must be recommended by majority of the panelists of PI Round
  • Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April/First week of May 2021 on the basis of Final Merit Score

MICAT  is a multidimensional computer based examination, which will assess candidates in areas such as Divergent Thinking Abilities, Written Communication Abilities, General Awareness about contemporary social and business issues, including areas relevant to media, marketing, advertising & current affairs and Analytical & Verbal Abilities.
