With SPJIMR Mumbai and IIM Udaipur joining the elite club of B-schools in India with the coveted AACSB Accreditation, total number of AACSB Accredited management institutes in India has gone up to nine from seven earlier.

Apart from SPJIMR Mumbai and IIM Udaipur, the other B-schools in India with AACSB Accreditation are School of Business Management at NMIMS Mumbai, ISB, IIM Calcutta, XLRI, IMT Ghaziabad, TAPMI and IFIM to have earned the AACSB Accreditation.

Across the world, there are only five percent B-schools who have been able to earn the coveted AACSB accreditation so far. There are only 831 institutions across 54 countries and territories, who have earned and are maintaining AACSB Accreditation. 187 institutions across the world maintain a supplemental AACSB Accreditation for their accounting programmes. The list of B-schools earlier accredited by AACSB includes Harvard Business School, Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the MIT Sloan School also.

Achieving AACSB Accreditation is a process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor, and peer-reviewed evaluation. AACSB Accreditation provides a framework of 15 international standards against which business schools around the world assess the quality of their educational services. These standards ensure continuous improvement and provide focus for schools to deliver on their mission, innovate, and drive impact. During this multi-year path, SPJIMR Mumbai and IIM Udaipur have focussed on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards required excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.

IIM Udaipur: Youngest B-school with AACSB Accreditation
IIM Udaipur is the youngest AACSB-accredited B-school in India. It has attained accreditation in less than eight years of its inception. Besides, IIM Udaipur is the 4th IIM to gain either of AACSB or EQUIS Accreditations, entering the ranks of IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta.

IIM Udaipur has earned this AACSB accreditation for its PGP, PGPX, and FPM programs. The accreditation will pave the way for IIM Udaipur to build stronger international linkages, especially for student and faculty exchanges.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Janat Shah, Director, IIM Udaipur, said, “From day one, IIMU has been focussed on building a globally recognized management institution. AACSB accreditation, at such an early stage, gives us the confidence to continue to dream big. We have benefited from the impressive legacy built by IIMs over more than fifty years and are proud of breaking new ground by focusing on world-class research, forging strong bonds with our corporate partners and providing a transformational experience for our students. AACSB accreditation is a big step on this journey. The next step will be the new Centre for Digital Enterprise that we will be setting up early in 2019.”

Alongwith SPJIMR Mumbai and IIM Udaipur, AACSB International has also announced to award Accreditation to the Business School at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, ESCA Ecole de Management, International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Jyväskylä University, Macquarie University, National Chung-Hsing University, the School of Accounting at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Troy University, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Universidade de Lisboa, and the University of Mary Washington.
