XLRI-Xavier School of Management, one of the premium B-schools of India, has inaugurated its new batch of students of the new academic session of 2020. A total of 477 students joined the XLRI student fraternity both at XLRI Jamshedpur and XLRI Delhi NCR campuses. Immediately after welcoming the students, XLRI has commenced classes for new batch on August 10, 2020 in online mode for PGDM-BM; PGDM-HRM along with FPM and Exec-FPM programmes

The new students of XLRI are taken through a Special Orientation Programme drawn up by XLRI to update their knowledge before regular classes commence. This year the Orientation program is conducted on a virtual platform.

XLRI  Drops Village Exposure Programme for the First Time
Every year the first-year students of XLRI Jamshedpur undergo compulsory Village Exposure Programme and the Outbound Adventure Programme. Both programs have been specially designed for students to create awareness about the realities of rural India and foster a sense of team spirit. This year due to the pandemic, it would not be possible to organize these programs.

Welcoming the new students, Fr. P. Christie S.J., Director, XLRI Jamshedpur emphasized on the four essential hallmarks of Jesuit education – Excellence, Integrity & Ethics, Whole person growth across quotients and Social Consciousness as these four themes have guided the growth of XLRI for last seven decades. While addressing the students Fr. P. XLRI released the admission result with cut offs for BM and HRM admission 2020. You could check your place by login on XLRI website. The cut offs have gone down from last year. If you were shortlisted, you needed to select the interview city by January 23, 2020 midnight. For XLRI admission 2020 to its PGDM(BM) and PGDM (HRM) programs, obtaining a good score in XAT 2020 exam, held on January 5, 2020, was mandatory

XLRI Jamshedpur shortlist for PGDM Business Management and Human Resource Management 2020-22 batch was released with cut offs in January 2020 immediately after release of XAT 2020 result. Releasing the shortlist XLRI had notified, “All shortlisted candidates through XAT/GMAT for the Human Resource Management Programme (HRM 2020-22) and Business Management Programme (BM 2020-22) are requested to select the Interview city by 23rd January, 2020 (11:59 p.m.).”

XLRI XAT 2020 was a difficult exam and as such the cut offs have gone down from the expected percentile score. XAT 2020 result was declared on January 16, 2020 and after five days XLRI released the shortlist. XAT 2020 exam was conducted on January 5, 2020.

PGDM (HRM)

XLRI Eligibility Criteria for Admission 2020
XLRI has prescribed different eligibility criteria for the PGDM 2020-22 programmes, commencing in June 2020:

XLRI Eligibility Criteria for PGDM (BM) & PGDM (HRM)
To meet the XLRI eligibility criteria, an applicant must possess a strong and consistent academic background.

  1. For 2 years full time PGDM (BM), PGDM (HRM) 2020-22 batch, the candidate must hold a recognized bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline.
  2. No minimum percentage of marks in graduation has been prescribed for XLRI admission 2020 and to apply for admission to PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM)
  3. All Indian candidates should appear and apply for XAT 2020
  4. NRI and Foreign candidates may apply either through GMAT (Taken between December 1, 2017 and December 30, 2019) or through XAT 2020.
  5. Those applying through XAT 2020 must submit the common application form for XAT 2020 and for XLRI Admission 2020 before December 10, 2019 without late fee. 
  6.  A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. However, their final examination should be completed by June 10, 2020.
  7.  It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by XLRI Jamshedpur and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination at a later date as decided by XLRI 
  8.  If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by XLRI Jamshedpur by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100
  9. Work experience is not mandatory for PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM) programs. Fresh graduates and those with work experience can apply.
  10. Relevant work experience after graduation will only be considered.

XLRI Eligibility Criteria for PGDM (GM)
For 15 months full time PGDM (General Management) 2020-21 batch, the candidate must hold a recognized bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline. While the other key eligibility criteria for XLRI admission 2020 to PGDM (GM) are similar as for other PGDM admission eligibility criteria, following are the additional eligibility criteria required for XLRI admission:

  • Five Years of Work experience is mandatory for PGDM (GM). So, No Fresh Graduate can apply
  • At least five years of managerial experience is required as on March 31, 2020 in an organization of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector after completing graduation 
  • The work experience of the candidate employed in a full-time job only will be considered.

XLRI Admission Process 2020

6 Steps of XLRI 2020 Admission Procedure
XAT Admission process 2020 has six main stages:

  1. Register and apply for XAT 2020 
  2. Use the common Application form to apply for XLRI Admission 2020
  3. Take XAT 2020 exam on January 5, 2020 and score well section wise and overall
  4. XLRI will announce Shortlist for next phase of selection round based on XAT exam score
  5. Final Admission Round comprises Group Discussion, Written Ability Test and Personal Interview which will be held in the months of February & March 2020 in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur 
  6. Final Admission offer will be made in the month of April 2020 on the basis of XAT score, GD-PI-WAT score, academic profile, work experience among other parameters

The XLRI application process is online and can be completed in a few minutes time. Stage 2: Apply for XLRI Admission 2020
XAT 2020 Registration fees and XAT Application form fees are clubbed into one. The XLRI PGDM programme application fee is not included in XAT Registration fee and the candidates have to apply for admission to XLRI programme by paying additional fee while completing the XAT 2020 application form. Stage 3: Appear in XAT 2020 Exam on Jan 5
Your performance in XAT 2020 is the key criterion to clear the major XLRI Selection Criterion 2020. The XAT performance can be gauged with the overall score, percentile score as well as sectional score in the XAT 2020 exam. XAT Selection Procedure 2020 may not prove to be difficult. It is worthwhile to understand the XAT 2020 exam pattern before moving to XLRI Admission process.

Stage 4:  Shortlisting For Final XLRI Admission Round 2020
After declaration of XAT 2020 Result on or before January 31, 2020, XLRI will release its shortlist of the candidates for final selection round for admission 2020. The XAT score card contains – Overall raw score, sectional raw score, overall percentile score and sectional percentile score. The XLRI shortlist will depend upon your XAT 2020 percentile score and place in XLRI merit list of shortlisted candidates.

The shortlisting process at XLRI begins in the first week of February and will continue till the last week of February 2020.  XLRI will shortlist the candidates on the basis of XAT 2020 Entrance test scores for final selection round which may contain GD-PI-WAT or PI-WAT or GD-PI or may have different components.

The decision on minimum section wise and overall cut off in XAT entrance exam at the time of shortlisting will be taken by the XLRI. If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in XAT 2020 entrance exam, he/she may not be considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.

Stage 5: Participate in GD-PI-WAT Round

  • All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection round for admission to the XLRI PGDM programmes for which they have applied
  • The Personal Interview Round for PGDM (BM), PGDM (HRM) and PGDM (GM) candidates through XAT will be conducted between mid- February and March 2020 in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur 
  • For PGDM (GM) Programmes only, the candidates who cannot be present physically for the XLRI interviews due to their being out of the country, interviews would be carried out in online mode via Internet. GMP Interviews can be conducted over G-talk / Skype for overseas candidates. Candidate need to send email at [email protected] for scheduling their interview online after result.

Stage 6: Final Admission Offer
Getting the admission offer from XLRI is the last stage in the XLRI Admission Procedure 2020. XLRI will release the final admission list in the month of April/May 2020 and the session would commence in the middle of June 2020

XLRI will prepare the final selection list on the basis of a composite score, which takes into account the applicant’s academic record, XAT 2020 scores, Work experience and performance in the PI Round

XLRI Jamshepur Admission Criteria
XLRI Admission Criteria is a two step process. The first step is shortlisting criteria based on XAT or GMAT exam score and the second step was admission final selection criteria consisting of GD-PI Round.

  1. XLRI Jamshedpur Shortlisting Criteria
    The first part of XLRI Admission criteria is its shortlisting criteria for final selection round. A candidate is shortlisted by XLRI Jamshedpur on following criteria:
  • On the basis of their scores obtained in XAT or GMAT score as per the admission eligibility criteria  
  • The shortlisting is based on the sectional as well as overall score in XAT or GMAT
  • The academic profile of the candidates also plays a key role in shortlisting for PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM) programmes
  • To promote academic and gender diversity in its class rooms, XLRI awards some weightage to the female candidates and the candidates coming from diverse back ground.
  • For PGDM (GM) relevant and quality work experience of 5 years and above is considered in shortlisting
  • The names of shortlisted candidates are announced by January 31, 2020

  • All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection round for admission to the XLRI PGDM programmes for which they had applied
