Debasis Mallik is a PhD in Economics with thirty years of experience in teaching, research, accreditation, academic leadership and international collaborations. He has been an active and conscientious contributor to SPJIMR, Mumbai for 18 years and later PIMR, Indore for over two years, and now with the Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad.
After a short stint at St Xaviers, Sahibganj, he joined ICFAI Hyderabad teaching Economics & Statistics. He published several articles and papers in international peer-reviewed journals. After working with ICFAI for over 7 years, Debasis joined ISB, Hyderabad as a Consultant. Eventually decided to move on and join SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai.
He started his career at SPJIMR teaching Economics, Multivariate Methods and Business Research Methods. Eventually, Debasis started the Global Management Program (GMP) at SPJIMR in 2010, the first partner being ESB Business School, Reutlingen University, Germany. Within a couple of years, under his leadership, the programs gained momentum and attracted more partners to collaborate, in Europe, UK and the US. Today the program has over 10 partner schools that also serve SPJIMR in its global initiatives. Debasis has been as a visiting faculty in countries like, The Netherlands, Germany, France, US, UK, Singapore, and Dubai.
Debasis joined the Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad on July 01, 2024. Since he joined, he has been instrumental in initiating three major collaborations with US Business Schools, namely, Eli Broad College of Business, Michigan State University; Graduate School of Management, UC Davis; and Business, University of Illinois, Chicago. The Institute has also started a Global Immersion Program with the Eli Broad College.
