IBSAT 2020 Exam Syllabus

IBSAT exam syllabus is designed to measure the candidate’s ability in Quantitative techniques; Data Interpretation; Data Adequacy; Vocabulary; Analytical Reasoning and Reading comprehension. The IBSAT 2020 syllabus consists of all important topics as are covered in the other national MBA entrance exams like CAT, XAT, NMAT, MAT, ATMA.


IBSAT 2020 exam dates are December 26 & 27, 2020. It will be a computer based test of 2 hours duration. Since IBSAT is an online computer based MBA entrance test like other exams mentioned above, the IBSAT Exam Syllabus 2020 is also divided in 4 key sections of the exam.

IBSAT Syllabus 2020: Sectional Division
IBSAT exam 2020 Syllabus is divided into following four sections:

IBSAT Syllabus: Important Topics but Easy Questions
IBSAT conducted by ICFAI University offers MBA/PGPM admission opportunity in 9 campuses of IBS colleges, located across the country. The IBSAT exam Syllabus covers all the key topics in each of the four sections but the test questions are of moderate difficulty level.


IBSAT 2020: Section Wise Syllabus


IBSAT Syllabus 2020 Section-1: Verbal Ability: 50 MCQs
Verbal Ability is highest scoring section in IBSAT with 50 questions. Major topics on which questions are asked in this section, are:

  • Synonyms/Antonyms
  • Word Relation
  • Error Spotting
  • Phrase Replacement/one word substitute
  • Fill in the blanks
  • Jumbled Sentences

The difficulty level for overall verbal ability section is moderate.


IBSAT Syllabus 2020 Section-2: Reading Comprehension: 30 MCQs
IBSAT Reading Comprehension syllabus has marked it as separate section in IBSAT exam with 30 questions.

  • RC Section in IBSAT is not clubbed to Verbal Ability section. 
  • There are usually 3 RC passages followed by 8 questions each while one RC passage is followed by 6 questions.
  • The RC passages in IBSAT have an average length of 500 to 600 words
  • Most questions are directly related to the RC passages and answers to them can be easily located in the RC passage itself
  • Some of the questions are indirect and you have to check the inference drawn from the passage.

IBSAT Syllabus 2020 Section-3: Quantitative Ability: 30 MCQs
Quantitative Ability section has a mix of all the topics in Mathematics. Total questions in this section are 30. All the questions are of Easy to Moderate difficulty level. Following are the major topics on which questions are based in Quant section

The QA section in IBSAT has good mixture of problems including arithmetic, geometry and analytical geometry. The questions are framed on speed, distance and time, ratio proportion, work problems, heights, progressions, probability, percentages, etc.


IBSAT Syllabus Section-4: Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation: 30 MCQs
Out of 30 questions in this section, 15 are based on Data sufficiency and rest 15 on Data Interpretation. This section has following major topics on which questions are based:

Data Interpretation  (Pie chart ) 

  • Data Interpretation (Line  and Table)
  • Data Interpretation (Line, bar, graph)
