Business Analysis is the first section in TANCET exam. The section evaluates the candidate’s ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations. The syllabus for Data Analysis section is like XAT Decision Making section syllabus. The caselets/ paragraphs on a given situation requires you to take appropriate decision in a Business Situation.
For the Analysis of Business Situations section in TANCET MBA 2026, the key differentiator is that it does not test general knowledge but rather your ability to critically evaluate a business case and classify data points. Unlike standard Reading Comprehension, you are given a detailed business scenario followed by items that you must categorize into specific buckets like “Major Objective,” “Major Factor,” or “Unimportant Issue.” Success in this section requires a mental shift from understanding the text to structuring the decision-making process, separating the ultimate goal (Objective) from the constraints (Factors) and the noise (Unimportant Issues).

Reading Comprehension (RC) is the second section in TANCET exam and accounts for 20% of the total score. There are 20 questions across 3–5 passages. These passages, typically 500–700 words in length, focus on diverse themes like economics, history, and social issues. This requires that you navigate both factual and inference-based question types.
To maximize performance, experts recommend a “question-first” approach. Candidates should skim the questions to identify key search terms before reading the text. This will build momentum by answering fact-based and vocabulary-in-context questions first. To do well in this section, candidates should maintain a daily habit of reading business newspaper and websites and practicing with previous year's papers.
Quantitative Aptitude (QA) is the third section in TANCET exam and has 20% weightage in the exam. Questions on Quantitative Aptitude section are formed to evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level and those learnt in plus two or equivalent level.
TANCET Quantitative Aptitude (QA) Section includes questions based on Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Number system, Modern Math and other topics. You need to prepare more on following Arithmetic topics which have high percentage of questions appearing in the QA section in TANCET exam.
Data Sufficiency (DS) is the fourth section in TANCET exam and also has 20% weightage in the exam. Data Sufficiency section in TANCET is a Test on determining data sufficiency for answering questions using the given data and the knowledge of mathematics and use of day-to-day facts.
TANCET Data Sufficiency section includes questions based on short problem sets which have sufficient or insufficient data to answer the questions. Each problem set is followed by two Statements. Candidate has to decide whether the data given in the statement-1 or statement-2 is sufficient to answer the question, insufficient to answer or both statements are to be used to answer. Almost all the questions are based on this pattern. This section is a mix of Data based questions as well as Logical Reasoning questions.
Business communication section is generally the last section in TANCET exam and has 20% weightage in the exam. General English section in TANCET tests the knowledge on written English on correct use of Grammar, Sentence formation, appropriate use of vocabulary, phrases, idioms among others.
