SPJIMR Mumbai welcomed its diverse new batch of flagship PGDM 2022-24 program with 241 students and commenced the academic session on June 27, 2022. The new batch at SPJIMR Mumbai has 82% students with work experience, one international student, a FIDE-rated Chess Champion, and students from varied backgrounds which include music, sports, and photography. The batch represents 22 states and offers high cultural diversity.
Welcoming the new batch, Dr. Varun Nagaraj, Dean SPJIMR said, “It is a pleasure to welcome our talented PGDM 22-24 class. We look forward to partnering with them over the next two years as they transition into wise innovators who will make a positive impact on the economy, society, and the planet.” He congratulated the participants and inspired them to navigate their professional careers by constantly innovating in the VUCA world. Diverse Batch with FIDE Rated Chess Player, Musicians, Radio Artists, Dancers
The batch comprises of extra-curricular in the fields of:
- Participants who are professional sarod players, radio artists, FIDE rated players.
- Some have participated in the commonwealth as well as national and state level chess championships.
- Batch is also made up of professionally trained musical instrument players.
- Some have served the scout fraternity for a number of years and received the highest position of achievement (Rashtrapati Award) from the Hon. President of India.
- Some hold state-level positions in 'senior category' in the annual wildlife photography competition held by forest department Madhya Pradesh govt.
- The batch has Guinness world record holders for playing tabla along with 1200 tabla and 300 pakhwaz at a time on the same stage by the art of living- January, 2012.
- Participants include the ones who have bagged top positions at various basketball, and football tournaments.

Cultural Diversity of the Batch
Participants come from 22 states across 100 cities and towns. They represent multiple tier 2 and tier 3 towns across the country.
SPJIMR inaugurated the PGDM Batch 2022-24 on 22nd June 2022. Participants started with their academic sessions from 27th June, 2022. Welcoming the batch, Dr. Sajeev Abraham George, Programme Chairperson – PGDM, said “We are excited to welcome the new batch to the campus. We are confident that the curriculum and the immersive experiences of the program will help them learn to be socially sensitive leaders with a global mindset.”
Orientation programme was scheduled to introduce participants to the culture and functions at SPJIMR, programme structure, and the various non-classroom learning courses like Abhyudaya, Development of Corporate Citizenship (DoCC), Personal Growth Lab (PG Lab), ADMAP (Committee work) and Science of Spirituality (SoS). Participants were also introduced to various clubs that they may choose to be part of in their two years on campus.
