Program Highlight

The 4-year Fellow programme, launched in 2010, is yet another impactful offering from MICA. The four-year Fellow programme at MICA is an AICTE-approved programme, is one of its kind in the country. Its unique world-class pedagogy and the foreign immersion module (offered with internationally reputed Universities) aim to prepare scholars of change.  The programme is designed to prepare exemplary scholars who meet international research norms.

MICA's FPM programme integrates understanding of different theoretical perspectives in Strategic Marketing, Communication, Media, and digital platforms and develop a holistic understanding of the domains; Makes significant intellectual contributions to the body of knowledge; Connects classroom learning and contemporary issues and the ability to solve them; Demonstrates superior academic writing skills and brings in awareness of existing and emerging issues in research ethics.
 

Scholarship
All FPM students at MICA (except sponsored students) admitted to the Programme will be given a fellowship and contingency allowance. The fellowship includes a fee waiver and a monthly stipend. The stipend for the first 2 years is Rs.38,000 per month and for 3rd and 4th year the amount of stipend is Rs.41,000. In addition to the above, a contingency grant of Rs. 25,000 in the first year, Rs. 30,000 in each of the second and third years, and Rs. 15,000 in the fourth year will be available to the students for academic expenses like case material, books, travel, data collection expenses, thesis expenses etc. Students will be permitted to carry over surpluses to the following years. However, FPM students will bear their lodging and boarding expenses.

Curriculum Highlights

MICA FPM has embedded rigorous coursework and an international immersion module. Its unique world-class pedagogy and the foreign immersion module (offered with internationally reputed Universities) aim to prepare scholars of change by encouraging fundamental and applied research focusing on critical thinking, argument development, knowledge gap identification, problem formulation, and thesis writing. As a part of the FPM curriculum restructuring conducted in 2023, the programme now has a good mix of- foundational, some to be done with the PGP students, research-enabler, and domain-specific courses. This provides a solid bearing to FPM scholars, who can conduct quality research and develop scholarly acumen to perform well in their academic careers.
The FPM community regularly organises the MI-Idea Cafe series, where FPM scholars are encouraged to share their research ideas with the community for constructive interaction. Further, the MI-CoCreation initiative has facilitated global webinars with esteemed speakers to disseminate knowledge about dynamic and contemporary academic research.

Eligibility Criteria

MICA FPM Eligibility Criteria have following key points:

  • Applicants must have a UGC/AIU/AICTE approved Post Graduate/Master’s Degree/equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in the field of management/communications/humanities/ or social science. 
  • Exposure and understanding of Marketing, Media, Public Relations, Advertising and/or Journalism shall be an added advantage.
  • The candidate should have also completed a UGC/AIU/AICTE approved three-year Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification after completing higher secondary (10+2) or equivalent. The Bachelor’s degree can be from any discipline (Engineering/ Science/ Social Studies/ Arts/ Commerce/ Communication/ Management/ or Media).
  • Foreign nationals and NRIs with non-Indian degrees that are considered equivalent (by UGC/AIU/AICTE) to the qualifications listed with GRE above are also eligible to apply for the programme. 
  • Final year students appearing for the master’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply.

Admission Process

Eligible candidates for MICA FPM should apply online with an application fee of Rs.500/-

MICA FPM admission process includes Written Test and online interviews to draw a list of eligible candidates. The Candidate will come to campus later for a written test, an individual presentation and a personal interview. The step by step process for MICA FPM Admission is detailed below:

  • Stage 1: Telephone interviews of eligible candidates.
  • Stage 2: The Shortlisted candidates should appear for MICA’s FPM Admission Test. 
  • The FPM Admission Test is a three-day process organised on the MICA campus, comprising of the Written Test (WT), an Individual Presentation (IP) and a Personal Interview (PI). Candidates appearing for the admission test will be provided lodging and boarding at the MICA campus. Details are as below:
  • Written Test: The Written Test will examine the candidate's theoretical understanding of communication, the ability to investigate a communication phenomenon and the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions. The WT will be descriptive in nature and is based on prescribed readings. Candidates shortlisted after the telephonic interviews will be sent the prescribed readings via email. They are required to read them critically. Candidates may bring copies of the readings to the WT as this is an open-book exam.
  • Individual Presentation (IP): The candidate will be presenting the topic based on the submitted research proposal. S/he will be given 15 minutes to present to a panel of experts. Candidates will be required to make PowerPoint (PPT) presentations.
  • Personal Interview (PI): The Personal Interview will follow the IP, where a panel of experts will assess the candidate's personality and passion for research.
  • Final Selection to the FPM programme is based on Telephonic screening interview and Performance in FPM Admission Test; Consistent academic performance from 10+2 onwards, and Professional work/research experience in media and communication

How to Apply

MICA FPM application form is an integral part of the admission process. Please provide the correct information. Admission granted on the basis of incorrect information will be ipso facto null and void. Step by Step process how to apply for MICA FPM admission is as below:

  • Fill Application online
  • Pay Online Application fees of Rs.500 while submitting the application.  The application fee should be deposited through online link provided at the payment gateway.
  • Two letters of recommendation in the prescribed format are required to be uploaded at the link provided in the online application. 
  • Ensure that you respond to all items in the application form (use N. A. for items which are not applicable to you).
  • Upload your Statement of Purpose (SOP) typewritten in a word document to the link provided in the online application. Address each of the following points, using the essay form in a maximum of two pages - Why do you want to pursue the FPM? And What are your career and professional goals? How do your research interests match with the sub-areas of MICA’s FPM: Communication and Media, Management and Marketing 
  • Upload your proposed research of maximum of 1000 words and mention the names of 3 MICA faculty whose work is aligned to this area, to the link provided in the online application.
  • Submit documents in support of the application according to the instructions given under Supporting Documents
  • The completed application form with attachment and documents will be considered for further selection process.
