MAT Sep 2023 Syllabus is  divided into 5 key sections namely Language Comprehension, Mathematical skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian and Global Environment with 40 questions in each section. The questions in each section as per MAT exam 2023 syllabus are of moderate difficulty level.

 

Sep MAT 2023 exam dates are from September 2 to 17, 2023. MAT September exam is scheduled in three testing modes CBT, PBT and IBT. There is one PBT; one CBT Mode MAT exams and long testing window with 4 IBT MAT exams on different dates from Sept 2 to 16. The IBT mode MAT exam is in addition to Computer based MAT and Paper based MAT exams without any change in MAT syllabus September 2023. Candidates can appear in IBT MAT from convenience of their home instead of going to exam centres. All the three MAT exams have similar MAT syllabus and the same difficulty level.

AIMA MAT 2023 Sep Syllabus is based on past MAT exams and types of questions that appeared in the exam. Although, the MAT Exam 2023 Syllabus has not been strictly pre-defined by AIMA, the topics covered in MAT Syllabus Sep 2023 are updated as per the changes in MAT exam questions and test pattern. MAT Sep 2023 Syllabus therefore, covers all the important topics on which questions are formed in each section.  Since AIMA has been conducting MAT exam since 1988, the MAT 2023 exam syllabus has also gone with some changes over a period of time.

MAT Sep 2023 Syllabus: Sectional Composition

MAT exam Syllabus is based on revamped and updated Syllabus for Management Aptitude Test irrespective of the testing mode. Each of the three MAT testing modes will have similar MAT syllabus. The updated MAT 2023 Sept syllabus for all the 5 sections of Language Comprehension, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Mathematical skills; Data Analysis and Sufficiency; Indian and Global Environment is given below. Sectional Sub-division of MAT 2023 Sep Syllabus

MAT syllabus 2023 is further subdivided. This sectional sub-division in MAT Sep 2023 syllabus makes MAT as an exam with 8 effective sections.

 

MAT exam syllabus 2023 for section one - Language Comprehension is divided  into two parts - Verbal Ability syllabus and Reading Comprehension syllabus. Similarly, syllabus for section two - Intelligence & Critical Reasoning also consists of two parts with different type of reasoning questions. The syllabus 2023 for Data Analysis & Data sufficiency also has two types of questions – the first type is on Data Analysis which is closer to Data Interpretation and other questions are on Data sufficiency.

 

All the sections have equal number of questions. The Exam Syllabus for Quantitative Ability section is also very wide and covers each and every topic in Mathematics with greater emphasis on Arithmetic. MAT 2023 Sep exam syllabus is thus based on the past paper patterns which contain questions from all these sections.

Section-1: Language Comprehension

Section Highlights: MAT 2023 Sep Syllabus for Language Comprehension section in MAT is divided into 2 parts. The 1st part of syllabus covers topics on Reading Comprehension passages and the 2nd part covers topics on Grammar & other parts of Verbal Ability.

Part-1: MAT Syllabus for Reading Comprehension (RC)

  • RC Syllabus covers current affairs making impact on Social Life, International Affairs, Govt policies and Schemes for example Triple Talaq, Clean India Mission, Migration of people from one country to other, Growing intolerance across the Globe, Agricultural policies, poverty eradication programmes 
  • Business & Economic RC Passages for example Global economic changes, economic development at the cost of environment, Impact of Demonetization in India, Wasteful expenditure by Governments
  • RC passages from various English Literature books, from articles authored by great philosophers, thinkers, from various speeches of great personalities like passages from Charles Dickens, Aristotle, Martin Luther King, Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, Churchill among others
  • Passages on Science & Culture including the journey to Modern world; Fading culture with the advancement of technology
  • Abstract topics and fiction are also included in the Reading Comprehension Syllabus for MAT. These Passages make the candidates put themselves in the author’s shoes before answering the questions following these passages since they are opinion based.
  • RC Passages on Historical events leading to social changes for example French Revolution, War of Roses, Social changes in Indian History and thoughts shared by  various activists which are very much relevant even today
  • RC Passages from Mythology. These passages try to correlate the Mythological events with the current social structure and answers to the questions on them have to be inferred

Key Facts on RC Syllabus in MAT & Type of questions 

RC passage on any topic under the Sun can be placed in MAT exam.  

  • Number of Questions: 20
  • Sectional Weightage in MAT Syllabus: 50%
  • Type of RC passages: 4 Short passages of moderate difficulty level
  • Division of questions: 5 questions based on each passage
  • Type of Questions: All of MCQ type with penalty of ¼  negative marking
  • Format of questions: Questions based on information in RC passage; Antonyms/synonyms of the words & phrases as used in the passage; In context of the passage –True/false statements; main idea of RC passage

Part-2: MAT Syllabus 2023 for Verbal Ability

  • Jumbled Paragraphs (3-4 questions)
  • Error Correction of Verb, Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Adverb and other parts of speech in the Sentences.
  • Correcting the sequence of sentences in the paragraph for example correct use of conditional sentence, time clauses, reported speech, passive writing (3-4 questions)
  • Antonyms/Synonyms (5-6 questions)
  • Fill in the blanks (3-4 questions)
  • One word substitution (1-2 questions)
  • Idioms/Phrases (2-3 questions)

Section Highlight: Syllabus for Mathematical skills refers to the Quant topics on which MAT questions are based.
