MAT Exam Pattern 2024: Exam Started from Aug 14; Check Number of Questions, Exam Duration; Revised MAT August 2024 Pattern

MAT August 2024 Exam is being conducted in three testing modes with option to appear in one or two MAT exams. August MAT 2024 is being conducted with 1 Paper Based MAT, 1 Computer based MAT exam at test Centres and 2 Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) MAT exams which you can take from your home. This facility to apply and appear in more MAT exams offers opportunity to improve your score by choosing the preferred modes of MAT exams.

AIMA has released revised MAT Pattern 2024 for August Exam with following key changes:

  • Number of questions in MAT 2024 August exam stand reduced to 150 from earlier 200
  • Total exam duration for MAT 2024 August exam is 120 minutes (2 Hours) reduced from earlier 150 minutes (2½ hours)
  • Number of questions reduced to 30 in each of the 5 sections in MAT exam from earlier 40 
  • August MAT 2024 is the last MBA entrance exam for admission 2024 to 500+ B-schools.

2. MAT 2024 Exam Pattern: Overview

  • There are 5 sections with equal number of questions in MAT exam 2024 pattern.
  • Each section in MAT question paper has 30 questions. Total questions are 150
  • All questions are in MCQ format.
  • Total exam time duration to solve the MAT question paper is 120 minutes.
  • Although, individual time limit for each section has been suggested by AIMA, there is no restriction to move from one section to other freely within overall time limit in the MAT 2024 exam pattern

2.1 MAT 2024 Exam Pattern: How to answer MAT questions?

  • You have to choose the correct answer option out of the multiple choices given below the question
  • Mark the correct answer option on the answer sheet if appearing in Paper Based Test
  • Click on the correct answer option if appearing in CBT or IBT MAT
  • Time duration to complete the MAT exam as per the MAT 2024 August exam pattern is 2 hours 
  • Each correct answer is awarded +1 Mark
  • Each wrong answer is penalized with -0.25 negative mark

3. Section wise MAT Exam Pattern

Section wise MAT pattern for August 2024 exam for all the five sections is as below: 

3.1 Section-1: MAT Exam Pattern for Language Comprehension
The section-1 in MAT exam 2024 on Language Comprehension is divided into two parts - Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. 

3.2 Section 2: MAT Exam Pattern for Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
The Section-2 on Intelligence & Critical Reasoning consists of two parts with Analytical and Logical Reasoning questions.

3.3 Section 3: MAT Exam Pattern for Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency
The section-3 in MAT exam pattern consists of Data Analysis & Data sufficiency which also has two types of questions – the first type is on Data Analysis which is closer to Data Interpretation and other type of questions are on Data sufficiency.

3.4 Section 4: MAT Exam Pattern for Mathematical Skills
The Section-4 in MAT exam is the Mathematical Skills section. This section is basically the Quantitative Ability section. It is very wide and covers each and every topic in Mathematics with greater emphasis on Arithmetic.

3.5 Section 5: MAT Exam Pattern for Economic & Business Environment
This section includes questions from both Current Affairs and Static GK. Although this section carries 30 marks, it is not taken into consideration to determine candidate’s MAT score and percentile. So, this section is given low priority by students. The questions are asked from the topics
