MAT 2021 May exam is scheduled from May 30 to June 13, 2021 in three modes - as Internet Based Test (IBT); CBT MAT and PBT MAT. The  Paper Based MAT exam date is May 30; Computer based MAT exam date is June 13 and IBT MAT exam dates are from June 6 to 10, 2021.  A pass in graduation or appearing in final year of bachelor's degree, is the minimum MAT eligibility criteria to appear in May MAT 2021.


To appear for MAT exam 2021 in May, you must have obtained recognized bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration or equivalent in any discipline. Those studying in their final graduation year may also apply. Besides, there is no age restriction to appear in MAT exam nor does AIMA restrict any candidate to seek MBA admission on the basis of age bar.  


As against other national level MBA entrance exams, AIMA has not fixed any minimum percentage of marks in graduation as the MAT 2021 eligibility to appear in MAT exam. AIMA has not changed the MAT exam eligibility criteria for the upcoming MAT exam to be held in May 2021 and as such the MAT 2021 exam eligibility for May MAT exam remains unchanged. However, you have to check the eligibility for the respective MBA colleges accepting MAT.

Candidates applying for MAT need to ensure their MAT Exam 2021 eligibility along with the institute level eligibility for admission Following are the important points to ensure your MAT Eligibility Criteria for May Exam  2021 


MAT Exam 2021 Eligibility
The candidate applying for MAT 2021 exam must fulfil one of the following MAT 2021 exam eligibility criteria:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree, or
  • Completed professional degree e.g. CA/CS/ICWA, or
  • The candidates in the final year of Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply for MAT exam

MAT May 2021 Eligibility Criteria: Calculation of Percentage of Marks

  • To determine the MAT Eligibility Criteria for May Exam, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/ Institution.
  • To arrive at the MAT Eligibility Criteria for May Exam, in case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution in accordance with the participating management institute’s required for Eligibility of MAT 2021

Consideration of MAT Exam 2021 Eligibility for MBA Admission

  • Mere fulfilment of minimum MAT eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by the Management Institute in which the applicant applies for admission
  • Apart from the MAT exam 2021 eligibility, the candidate should ensure the institute’s eligibility requirement like academic profile, score required in MAT exam among others.

  • The candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the MAT 2021 exam process
  • MAT 2021 eligibility does not impose any age bar to appear in MAT 2021 May exam. 

MAT Exam 2021 Eligibility Vs MBA College Admission Eligibility
There can be some difference between the MAT exam eligibility criteria and the MBA admission eligibility criteria of the MBA college where you wish to apply. Key points of such differences are:

MAT Eligibility: Completed Vs Final Year of Bachelor’s Degree
According to AIMA, Graduates in any discipline can apply for MAT 2021 exam. Those who are in their final year of graduation can also apply. It implies that MAT eligibility allows a candidate to appear in MAT 2021 exam, if he/she holds recognized Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 3 years duration or equivalent in any discipline.


Those completing their final graduation exam may also apply for MAT 2021 exam. If shortlisted by the B-school on the basis of MAT 2021 May exam score, such candidates will be allowed to join the program provisionally. These provisionally admitted candidates must submit a certificate from the Principal/ Registrar of the College/Institute stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.


Any B-School - National or International - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates.
