CAT Notification 2019: Key Highlights
Apart from the CAT notification dates for all the CAT exam related activities, the CAT Notification contains various other CAT details like Programmes offered by IIMs, key exam related activities among other. The CAT Notification 2019 will define the CAT Eligibility to apply and details about the MBA programmes offered by all the 20 IIMs. Salient features of CAT 2019 Notification are:

  • CAT Notification 2019 will have a list of 20 IIMs and programmes offered by them
  • Only those Management programmes offered by IIMs are mentioned in CAT notification where admission is offered through CAT exam
  • CAT 2019 Notification mentions the CAT exam date, number of sessions in which CAT exam will be conducted

  1. Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
  2. Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

  • Candidates will be allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section and they will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.
  • Some questions in each section may not be of multiple-choice type. Instead, direct answers will have to be typed on the screen. The tutorials will clearly explain this. Also, CAT will allow use of basic on- screen calculator for computation.
  • The CAT Notification 2019 will clarify what further information would be available on CAT website for example it contains a section on Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) that addresses some of the commonly asked queries regarding CAT 2019.
  • CAT Notification 2019 will have CAT helpdesk number as well as CAT exam centre Mail ID.
  • A paragraph with information on IIM admission process in CAT Notification 2019 will also be inserted to apprise the candidates to know about the Admission details.

The CAT 2019 Media Release will also contain details about CAT 2019 exam date, pattern, registration, result, IIM admission process among other key information items as released in CAT notification.

July 28, 2018, Kolkata: Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will be releasing the notification for the Common Admission Test 2018 (CAT 2018) in newspapers across the country on 29th July, 2018 (Sunday).

 

According to Prof. Sumanta Basu, Convener, CAT 2018, following are some of the salient features of CAT 2018:

  • CAT 2018 will be conducted on 25th November 2018 (Sunday) in two sessions.
  • Registration for CAT 2018 will open on 8th August, 2018 and will close on 19th September, 2018.
  • CAT 2018 will be conducted in test centres spread across approximately 147 cities.
  • Candidates will be given the option to select 4 test cities in order of preference. Cities and centres will be assigned to the candidates only after the last date for CAT 2018 registration and hence candidates need not rush to block slots and cities in the initial days of registration.
  • Concerned authority will try their best to assign candidates to their first preferred city. In case it is not possible, they will be assigned a city following their given order of preference. In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the preferred cities, he/she will be allotted an alternate city. However, candidates will not be able to select the session because it will be assigned randomly.
  • Candidates must pay the registration fee through online payment modes only, which will include credit cards, debit cards and net banking.

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2019 is the mandatory entrance exam for admission to MBA/PGDM 2020-22 programmes in all the 20 IIMs, FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurugram, IMI New Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, JBIMS Mumbai, TAPMI Manipal and other hundreds of highly ranked B-schools in India. One or other older IIM conducts CAT every year. This year the responsibility to convene CAT is assigned to IIM Calcutta.
