IPMAT Exam Pattern

IPMAT exam pattern 2024 is a Computer Based Test. It will be conducted at multiple test centers in 36 cities. The candidates are required to go to the respective test centre for the exam. Following are the key changes in IPMAT 2024

• Test Pattern: Objective-type test with MCQs and Short Answer (SA) questions
• Two sections Exam: Quantitative Ability (Divided into 2 sections); and Verbal Ability
• No. of Questions: Reduced to 90 from 100 for two hour exam
• Time Duration: 120 minutes
• Scoring Pattern: Each correct answer carries +4 marks. 
• Negative Marking: -1 mark for each wrong answer for MCQs; No Negative marking for Short Answer (SA) questions
• Maximum Marks: Reduced to 360 from 400
• Pre-Specified Order to Answer Questions: Candidates must answer the sections in a pre-specified order and this order is same for all the candidates.
• QA (MCQ) Section Time Limit: 40 Minutes
• QA (SA) Section Time Limit: 40 Minutes
• VA Section Time Limit: 40 Minutes

IPMAT 2024: Revised Exam Pattern
IIM Indore IPMAT exam pattern 2024 is as under

Below is shared the revised marking scheme and key topics on which questions are asked in IPMAT 2024 exam pattern:

IIM Indore has revised the score computation formula for IPMAT 2024. The revised score calculation process for IPM-AT 2024 Composite Score is:

• Score in Quantitative Ability (MCQ) Section: 25 x (Candidate's Score — Min. Score)/(Max. Score — Min. Score)
• Score in Quantitative Ability (SA) Section: 25 x (Candidate's Score — Min. Score)/(Max. Score — Min. Score)
• Score in Verbal Ability Section: 50 x (Candidate's Score — Min. Score)/(Max. Score — Min. Score)
• Aptitude Test Score (ATS) Sum of above scores
• Based on above Composite Score, Candidates with highest Scores in each category will be shortlisted for Personal Assessment (PA). The PA round consists of Personal Interview (PI) the mode of which will be decided by the Admissions Committee in due course
• The Maximum and Minimum scores are the highest and lowest scores obtained in respective sections by the candidates from the eligible pool

The eligible pool for shortlisting for Personal Assessment (PA) is created considering only the candidates having positive raw scores and a minimum marks in each of the three sections of Aptitude Test.

• The minimum cut off mark in each section is decided by the Admissions Committee.
• The minimum cut off mark in each section is based on the categories of applicants.
• Individual regret letters will not be sent to applicants who are rejected

IPMAT Sectional Weightage 2024 for Final Selection
For final admission, IPMAT sectional weightage is:

• Weightage of IPMAT 2024 Aptitute Test Score (ATS) = 65%
• Weightage of Personal Assessment (PA) = 35%
• Composite Score (CS)- Sum of above= 100%

Quantitative Ability (QA) in IPMAT
QA Questions are asked from a range of topics like Percentages, Profit and Loss, SI and Cl. Number System, Average, Mixture and Solution, Ratio and Proportion, Time Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Progressions, Geometry and Mensuration, Inequalities, Logarithms and Graphs.

IPM AT also has questions from Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). You can expect questions in Quantitative Ability section from Matrices, Determinants and basic questions from trigonometry.

Quantitative Ability (QA) questions in IPMAT exam pattern 2024 are divided into 2 parts – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Short Answer (SA) questions. Key points and guidelines to attempt each type of questions are given below:

Verbal Ability Topics: This section consists of

• Reading Comprehension: 3-4 passages with 5 questions each. The passages are asked from economy, culture and developmental issues.
• Vocabulary: Around 10-12 questions on Antonyms and Synonyms,
• Other types of Questions: Other types of questions in this section include Para Jumble & Logical Completion of Paragraph, Best Summary questions, Word Usage, Fill in the Blanks and Proper Usage of Words.
