IIM Jammu MBA admission 2020 result is announced with 700 candidates in waitlist. Seats for MBA 2020-22 batch are proposed to increase to 240 from 160 last year. The final selection was based on CAT 2029 score, PI-WAT score in CAP 2020, academics and work experience. IIM Jammu, mentored by IIM Lucknow, had CAT cut off at 90 percentile in shortlisting and weightage of 40% to CAT score in final selection.

IIM Jammu to Award MBA instead of PGDM
Instead of awarding diploma, IIM Jammu awards MBA degree to the students of its 2 year flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP). The Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at IIM Jammu is a master’s level programme, leading to the grant of a degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA). The two-year, full-time, residential programme is designed to equip students to take on leadership roles in an increasingly complex and dynamic global scenario. Each year consists of three trimesters, with 8 weeks of summer internship.

The 2 years Post Graduate Programme (PGP) at IIM Jammu has equivalence with Master’s degree of an Indian University for the purpose of admission to higher studies. Mentored by IIM Lucknow, IIM Jammu participated in Common Admission Process (CAP) 2020 conducted for 9 new IIMs.

Intake to Increase to 240 Students
IIM Jammu is proposing to increase MBA 2020-22 seats to 240 from 160 last year. In the first year for the 2016-18 batch, IIM Jammu had only 47 students. The number has gradually increased for each subsequent batch.

IIM Jammu Final Selection Criteria weights for Admission 2020
IIM Jammu has awarded 40% weightage to CAT 2019 score in final selection round for MBA admission 2020. The final admission offer is based on CAT 2019 score cut off at 90 percentile and participation in the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2020, conducted in February/March 2020 for 9 new IIMs. CAP is the PI-WAT round for the new IIMs and the score obtained in CAP determines the admission prospects of the applicant.

IIM Jammu Shortlisting Cut off for PI-WAT
Only those candidates who met the minimum CAT 2019 percentile requirements, and reconfirmed their interest, by the stipulated date, for admission to PGP 2020-22 of IIM Jammu were considered for final admission with the PI-WAT round score. Cut offs are shared below:

CAT Cut Off for Female Candidates Reduced
In case of female candidates under the general category, the overall cut-off percentile marks for eligibility for PA (PI-WAT) process is minimum 85 percentile overall, with sectional cut-offs of 75 percentile.

IIM Jammu's Admission Committee decided the number of candidates who would be called for Personal Assessment (PA) process on the basis of criteria prepared for each category. However, if the actual number of short-listed candidates were found to be less than the required number of candidates to be called for WAT & PI category-wise, then the overall as well as section-wise minimum score would be reduced to get the desired number of candidates.

IIM Jammu offers 2 years full time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme and Doctoral (PhD) Programme in Management. Various short term faculty Development Programmes and Management Development Programmes are also offered by IIM Jammu.

IIM Jammu Fees: Rs.13.80 Lakhs

  • The Total programme fees payable by MBA students at IIM Jammu is Rs.13,80,000
  • The fee covers the expenses towards Tuition, Library, Internet, Case Permission Royalty, Course Material, Hostel Room Rent, Medical Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance and Alumni Activity.
  • Caution Deposit (Refundable) of Rs.20,000 has to be paid at the time of admission (in addition to Fees and Expenses mentioned).

IIM Jammu final Placement 2020 concluded with an average salary of Rs.10.06 LPA and highest salary of Rs.24.5 LPA. There were 84 recruiters making offers to 58 IIM Jammu students in Placement 2020

30% Seats Filled by Women Students
For the MBA 2020-22 batch, 30% seats have been filled by women students. Till the earlier batches, very few women candidates took admission in IIM Jammu. According to Milind Kamble, the Chairman BoG IIM Jammu, “There was no women candidates last year but this time more than 30% of the seats have been taken up by women joining the MBA programme.”

IIM Jammu Launches Srinagar Campus: Permanent Off Campus Soon
IIM Jammu inaugurated its transit Satellite campus at Srinagar on January 24, 2020.  IIM Jammu will construct its Srinagar Campus with an investment of Rs 55 crore to train people with the programs on the local horticulture, agriculture and processing industries. Besides, the campus will offer them tailor- made management programmes and short-term courses. IIM Jammu is in process to set up incubation centres both at Srinagar off-campus and at IIM Jammu campus to nurture entrepreneurship among students. Dr B.S. Sahay, director, IIM Jammu is making utmost efforts to make the institute nurture and develop the best of managerial talents.

Envisages Participation from More Local Students
Not enough local students from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are joining IIM Jammu.  Since the admission to the MBA program is through the most competitive CAT exam, only three local students could be selected. IIM Jammu is planning to help the locals train for the competitive exams with special coaching and support and tie up with institutions offering this training in order to make the IIM Jammu admission more accessible for local aspirants.

8 Students Selected for PhD
With its launch of Ph.D. program, IIM Jammu has received hundreds of applications from across the country. Eight candidates have been selected for the recently launched PhD programme.

It is mandatory for the candidates who wish to pursue MBA from IIM Jammu to appear in the CAT exam. A balanced score in all the three sections of CAT and good academic profile is the key to get admission in IIM Jammu.

The two-year, full-time, residential programme PGP at Indian Institute of management (IIM) Jammu is designed to develop leaders and entrepreneurs who can perform globally to make a valuable difference to the Society and the Corporate world.

IIM Jammu Admission Eligibility

  1. IIM Jammu admission eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
  2. The candidate should appear in CAT exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission at IIM Jammu
  3. If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIM Jammu by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate. 
  4. A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIM Jammu Admission. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from the principal/head of the department/ registrar/director of the institution/university certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year or is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks.

IIM Jammu Admission Criteria
IIM Jammu Admission Criteria 2020 is a three step process – Pre shortlisting criteria, Shortlisting criteria for PI-WAT followed by Final admission selection Criteria comprising PI-WAT.

Pre-Shortlisting Criteria

  • In the first phase, all eligible candidates who have appeared for CAT and have applied for IIM Jammu are considered for shortlisting
  • Candidates who qualify at this stage are asked to reconfirm their interest for admission to PGP 2020-22 of IIM Jammu sometime in the month of April
  • IIM Jammu sends e-mail to all candidates who have applied to IIM Jammu and also meet the minimum CAT percentile requirements around third week of April.
  • The E-mail will have a link to a web page where the candidates must reconfirm, by a stipulated date, their interest to pursue their candidature further, for admission to PGP at IIM Jammu. 

IIM Jammu Shortlisting Criteria for PI-WAT

  • The shortlist of candidates is based on securing minimum section-wise and aggregate percentile scores in CAT exam
  • The shortlisting is common and is done by CAP coordinating IIM
  • Candidates obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT exam is only considered for Shortlisting
  • All the subsequent processing, standardization and selection is limited to candidates belonging to this first shortlist alone. Accordingly, only CAT score is used as the basis for arriving at the shortlist for PI-WAT round

IIM Jammu Final Admission Selection Round Criteria

  • All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection CAP round for admission to IIM Jammu
  • The candidates who are shortlisted and interviewed by any one or more of the IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow (only for their PGP/PGPM programs), will not be required to appear for the CAP round. For these candidates, their Personal Interview (PI) / Written Ability Test (WAT) scores from the above IIMs will be used to derive their PI /WAT scores for IIM Jammu
  •  Candidates who are not shortlisted and interviewed by any of the IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow (only for their PGP/PGPM programs) will be required to appear for a Personal Interview (PI) / Written Ability Test (WAT) conducted as Common Admission Process by IIMs.

IIM Jammu Step-wise Admission Process
Following steps are included in the IIM Jammu Admission process:

  • Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT to be considered for first stage screening process for admission at IIM Jammu
  • Step 2: Candidates are short-listed for CAP round comprising Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score and who have applied for IIM Jammu Admission
  • Step 3: Shortlisting process from the pool of the candidates will be done by CAP coordinating IIM.
  • Step 4: After the CAP round, admission offers are made by IIM Jammu to successful candidates who have reconfirmed interest to IIM Jammu. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in WAT & PI, Performance in past academics, Performance in CAT, Quality of Work Experience among others
  • Step 5: Final Admission Offer is made in the last week of May on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components. The academic session as IIM Jammu begins in July.

IIM Jammu to have Rs.450 Crore Campus
The temporary campus of IIM Jammu is at Government College of Engineering and Technology, Old University Campus, Kanal Road, Jammu, J&K – 180016. IIM Jammu is located in the heart of the city in the university campus.

IIM Jammu has been allotted 200 acres of land situated 40 km from Jammu city on the Katra Road near the IIT Jammu campus. The work on IIM Jammu campus, to be constructed at a cost of Rs.450 crore is to start by September 2020 and is expected to be completed in two years.

The youngest among IIMs and set up in 2016, IIM Jammu has seen three batches graduate. It was initially attached to IIM Lucknow. Kamble, a Pune-based entrepreneur and founder of the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took over as chairman of the board of governors of IIM Jammu in May 2019.

 IIM Jammu joined the IIM family as the 20th IIM of the country and is the youngest IIM. It started the 1st batch in August 2016 and since then three batches have already passed out.  All activities at IIM Jammu will continue to be mentored by IIM Lucknow till it moves to its permanent campus. During the mentorship period and while IIM Jammu’s own faculty are recruited, faculty members from IIM Lucknow will be delivering courses at IIM Jammu.
