NTA will confirm the CMAT eligibility criteria 2027 in the CMAT 2027 Information Bulletin, which is expected soon on cmat.nta.nic.in. Until then, the table below shows the CMAT 2027 eligibility expected on the basis of the last years information bulletin.

The CMAT 2027 eligibility for educational qualification is expected to follow the CMAT 2026 rules, which are simple and open to graduates of every stream:

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline: The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree. No particular subject or stream is required.
• Final-year students can apply: Candidates appearing in the final year of a bachelor's degree can apply for CMAT 2027, provided their result will be declared before admissions begin for academic year 2027-28.
• Recognised degree: The CMAT 2026 bulletin asked candidates to ensure that their degree is recognised as per AICTE provisions. If it is found at any time that the degree is not recognised, the candidature or result is cancelled.

A Class 12 pass student is not eligible for CMAT, because the minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree or final-year status in a bachelor's programme.

No, the CMAT eligibility percentage is not prescribed by NTA. The CMAT 2026 Information Bulletin does not set any minimum percentage of marks in graduation for appearing in the exam. If you hold a bachelor's degree, or are in the final year, you can register for CMAT.

However, the colleges and state admission bodies that use CMAT scores can set their own minimum marks. One clear example is Maharashtra, where many government, university-managed and private MBA/MMS institutes admit students through the MAH MBA Centralised Admission Process (CAP). According to the official Maharashtra MBA/MMS Admission Notice for academic year 2026-27, All India candidates applying with a CMAT score needed:

There is no CMAT age limit. The CMAT 2026 Information Bulletin clearly states that there is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT, and the CMAT exam eligibility 2027 is expected to follow the same rule. There is no minimum or maximum age. The only requirement is the educational qualification: you must hold a bachelor's degree or be in the final year of one.

The candidate must be a citizen of India. Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who hold Indian citizenship meet this condition. OCI and PIO cardholders and foreign nationals are not Indian citizens, so they do not meet the citizenship condition in the CMAT 2026 bulletin.

Work experience is not part of the CMAT 2027 eligibility. Freshers in the final year of graduation and working professionals are equally eligible. After the result, each CMAT-accepting institute follows its own selection process, which may include Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). NTA advises candidates to check the eligibility criteria for admission at each institute where they want to apply.

CMAT is open to candidates of all categories. Reservation applies at the admission stage, as set out in Chapter 2 of the CMAT 2026 Information Bulletin.

Reservation in Institutes Run by the Central Government

• State Government institutes: Institutes run, aided or recognised by State Governments follow the reservation policy of their State.
• OBC-NCL: Only castes in the Central List of OBCs (published by the National Commission for Backward Classes) qualify. Candidates from a State-list OBC that is not in the Central List must choose General.
• Category is final: NTA does not guarantee any change in category or PwD/PwBD status after the application is submitted, and no change is entertained after the CMAT score is declared.
• Document verification: Reservation benefits are given subject to verification of documents. A candidate who uses a false document to claim reservation is excluded from admission.

Reserved category candidates also pay a lower application fee. In CMAT 2026, the fee was ₹1,250 for Gen-EWS, SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwD/PwBD candidates, against ₹2,500 for General (UR) male candidates.

The CMAT 2026 bulletin followed the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and the related Government of India guidelines. The key provisions, expected to continue in CMAT 2027, are:

• Definition: A Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) has not less than 40% of a specified disability, as certified by the certifying authority.
• Scribe: PwBD candidates with a limitation in writing can use a scribe, either their own or one provided by NTA. Candidates with less than 40% disability who have difficulty in writing can also get a scribe, with a certificate from a government medical authority.
• Compensatory time: At least 20 minutes for every hour of the exam. Eligible candidates get a minimum of one hour of compensatory time in a three-hour exam such as CMAT, whether or not they use a scribe.
• Certificate upload: The disability certificate or UDID card must be uploaded in the application form in PDF format, between 50 KB and 300 KB.
• Fee: PwD/PwBD candidates pay the concessional fee of ₹1,250.

Meeting the CMAT entrance exam eligibility lets you take the exam, but it does not guarantee admission. The CMAT 2026 Information Bulletin makes four points clear:

1. Candidature is provisional: NTA does not verify the information entered at registration, so candidature is provisional and subject to eligibility as per AICTE norms.
2. The admit card is not proof of eligibility: Issue of an admit card does not mean that eligibility has been accepted; it is scrutinised again at the admission stage.
3. Appearing does not confer a seat: Merely appearing in CMAT does not make a candidate eligible for admission or give any automatic right to a seat.
4. Institutes set their own criteria: Each institute releases its own CMAT cut-off and selection process, and candidates must check its eligibility rules.

Is the CMAT score valid for two years? The CMAT 2026 Information Bulletin described the exam as being for admission to management courses in academic session 2026-27, and Maharashtra's 2026-27 admission notice accepted CMAT scores "valid for admission in academic year 2026-27". On the same basis, a CMAT 2027 score is expected to be used for admissions in academic year 2027-28. Neither document mentions a two-year validity.
